Our Wealth and Personal Banking business supports millions of individuals, families, business owners, investors and entrepreneurs worldwide. We provide products and services that include current accounts, credit cards, personal loans and mortgages, as well as savings, investments, insurance and wealth management. We also have specialised relationship managers who support customers with bespoke requirements, including high net worth and ultra-high-net-worth clients.
The role of the Financial Education Officer is to work with schools, youth groups, colleges and universities to improve the financial capability of young people and vulnerable adults. Activities will include developing and maintaining a portfolio of Smart Money school relationships, delivering HSBC financial education lessons in primary and secondary schools, and piloting new content to develop best-in-class lessons for ages 3-25.
This role is based within the Customer, Propositions and Marketing team in Wealth and Personal Banking, across the UK, with frequent travel required, including quarterly team meetings at 1 Centenary Square, Birmingham.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Manage a portfolio of schools, liaising with teaching staff to represent HSBC as an ambassador within the education community, supporting ongoing engagement with the Smart Money programme.
2. Work with Ofsted teams during scheduled visits to showcase the school's work supporting pupils' financial capability.
3. Communicate the value of the education framework, including links to Ofsted requirements and curriculum support, to deliver a financial education programme for ages 4-18 annually.
4. Deliver the education programme both in person and online to support remote learning.
5. Promote the education strategy through activities such as Bring Your Child to Work events, Banking Futures, and career fairs.
6. Support volunteers in delivering the HSBC national education framework through training and knowledge transfer.
7. Assist with community projects to build financial capability among young people and vulnerable adults.
8. Collaborate with external partners like #Merky and Young Money to benefit partner schools and communities.
9. Pilot new learning content to develop effective lessons for ages 3-25.
Minimum Requirements:
* Experience in education, finance, or related sectors, with understanding of school systems and curriculum.
* Excellent organizational, digital, and communication skills.
* Proven experience working with young people, presenting, or training.
* Ability to manage relationships and develop new opportunities independently.
* Adaptability to sector changes and diverse audiences.
* Passion for supporting youth and understanding the impact of financial literacy.
The role's base location is Birmingham, with options for applicants from Lincolnshire, Peterborough, Derbyshire, Leicestershire, Nottinghamshire, and the South East.
