About the Role
To be employed in this role you must be over the age of 18 and pass an enhanced safeguarding check. Our stores operate 24 hours per day, 7 days per week, bringing a wide variety of shift patterns – if you’re looking for flexible working to fit around your lifestyle, we’ll work with you on your shifts. Late and weekend working are a requirement of the role, and we may need to be flexible with your work pattern. Our in‑store opticians are hugely popular with customers; they expect the same warmth and friendliness they get elsewhere in the store, along with the confidence and ease of discussing personal ocular health issues and quickly resolving customer problems while guiding them to the right products.
Responsibilities
* Prepare patients for their eye examination and explain each stage of the eye test.
* Complete pre‑screening examinations and book appointments.
* Dispense spectacles and contact lenses, handle repairs and adjustments, and ensure stock is received.
* Provide warm and friendly customer service, discuss ocular health, resolve issues, and direct customers to appropriate products.
About You
You are naturally friendly, highly organised, have good computer skills and attention to detail, communicate well with customers, love problem solving, are confident working with numbers, and are passionate about helping people by giving customers a great healthcare experience.
Requirements
* Age over 18 and pass an enhanced safeguarding check.
* Availability for flexible shifts including late and weekend work.
* Ability to use IT systems effectively.
* Willingness to complete asda Optical Step In training or Level 3 Optical Assistant Apprenticeship and, if successful, to progress to the Level 6 Dispensing Optician Apprenticeship.
