Job Description
Responsibilities of the Commis Sommelier
* To take pride in ensuring the cleanliness of all wine service equipment and storage areas as per the standard.
* To be confident that the service is at all times performed in a professional manner and to the style as specified by the Assistant Sommelier.
* To be fully conversant with wine list, menus and beverage items in the hotel and to provide a confident explanation if requested.
* To promote, describe, and up sell items.
* To communicate with other Restaurant staff and departments in a respectful manner.
* To make sure that Company Policy and the Vision Statement are followed and utilised at all times.
* To be aware and confident of your product knowledge of all services offered in the Hotel.
* To ensure that all guests' wishes are met so far as is reasonably possible. Showing passion and pride for the hotel
* To ensure mise en place, in the Restaurant. Understanding the importance of teamwork and flexibility within your role.
* To ensure that all tasks set are completed in the time allocated and to the standard set by the Company.
* To take ownership and ensure that all wines are transported to the Restaurant and that the wine station is clean and clear throughout the service.
* To report all comments/complaints/problems to the Assistant Sommelier, showing integrity and discretion
Qualifications
Commis Sommelier - About You
* 1 year experience in working in simliar role is required
* Fine dining background is desirable
* Drive and passion to seek out opportunities to go above and beyond for our guests
* Confidence, enthusiasm and passion for your work and communication with colleagues
* A keen eye for detail, organisational skills and a flexible attitude
