Job Title: HSE Manager
Location: Chester
Salary: £50,000 - £60,000 per annum
Holidays: 25 days plus bank holidays

Purpose of the Role:
To create, maintain, and improve health, safety, and environmental standards across the manufacturing facilities. The HSE Manager will be responsible for ensuring that health, safety, and environmental legislation is adhered to, while leading the promotion of a safe working environment through the implementation of procedures and systems.
Key Responsibilities:
Establish and monitor standards, processes, training, and systems to ensure compliance with the Health, Safety, and Environmental Policy
Review the HSE Policy and Procedures annually and communicate any changes to necessary staff
Promote health & safety awareness and review safety suggestions received from employees
Implement and maintain the Health & Safety Management System, ensuring comprehensive support for the Company
Ensure safe plant, machinery, and the safe handling and storage of substances, including managing the COSHH register
Maintain accident records and present trends to the Health & Safety Committee, including reporting on RIDDOR incidents
Lead and coordinate health & safety training within the Company
Ensure risk assessments are regularly conducted and implemented, including the provision of emergency procedures, first-aid facilities, safety signs, and protective clothing
Liaise with relevant authorities regarding audits, inspections, and remedial actions
Conduct health & safety audits and inspections to ensure compliance with legislation
Advise senior management on high-risk areas identified through accident investigations or statistics
Implement and enforce permits to work for contractors
Ensure environmental management practices, such as pollution control, waste management, and sustainability initiatives, are followed
Carry out environmental audits and report on environmental performance to internal and external clients and regulatory bodies
Person Specification:
Essential Qualifications and Skills:
NEBOSH Diploma (or equivalent) in Health & Safety
5+ years of experience in a health & safety role
Experience in delivering presentations
Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
Knowledge of ISO 9001, ISO 14001, BS OHSAS 18001, and ISO 50001
Desirable Qualifications and Skills:
IEMA associate Certificate in Environmental Management
Experience within a manufacturing environment
Experience of managing quality systems (ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 18001)
Experience in sustainability and energy-saving initiatives
