The Role

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Pastoral Support Worker to join a school in Leeds. This is a full:time position, offering a unique opportunity to provide essential support to students, helping them to overcome barriers to learning and achieve their full potential. The successful candidate will be a key part of the pastoral team, working closely with students, staff, and parents to foster a positive and inclusive school environment. This role is crucial in ensuring the well:being and academic success of all students.

Requirements:

* Prior experience in a similar role within an educational or youth:focused setting.
* A genuine understanding and compassionate approach to supporting young people
* Eligibility to work in the UK.
* Enhanced Child DBS on the updated service (Willingness for one)

* Organisational skills: The ability to manage a busy caseload, prioritise tasks, and maintain accurate records.
* A collaborative team player: The willingness to work closely with colleagues to achieve shared goals.

Key Responsibilities

* Providing emotional support: Offering a listening ear and emotional guidance to students facing personal or academic challenges.
* Leading one:to:one and group sessions: Facilitating sessions to address specific pastoral needs, such as managing anxiety or building self:esteem.
* Creating and implementing support plans: Developing tailored plans to assist students in achieving their academic and personal goals.
* Liaising with parents/carers: Communicating effectively with families to ensure a joined:up approach to student welfare.
* Collaborating with teaching staff: Working alongside teachers to identify and address the pastoral needs of students within the classroom.
* Managing and de:escalating challenging behaviour: Using effective strategies to support students in regulating their emotions and actions.
* Signposting to external agencies: Guiding students and families to appropriate professional help when necessary.
* Maintaining accurate records: Keeping detailed and confidential records of pastoral interventions and progress.
* Promoting a positive school culture: Acting as a role model and actively contributing to a supportive and respectful school environment.
* Safeguarding: Ensuring the safety and well:being of all students in line with school policies and statutory requirements.
