Offer description

We are looking for someone with excellent customer service skills to join our patient services team.

The role involves 5 sessions per week, with shifts from 7.45-13.15 or 13.00-18.30 on a rota with alternating mornings and afternoons every 2 weeks.

Flexibility is essential to cover holidays and sickness. There is also occasional night cover on Monday evenings from 18.30-20.00, on a rota basis.


Main duties of the job

Receive, assist, and direct patients to the appropriate service or healthcare professional in a courteous, efficient, and effective manner.

Provide general assistance to the Practice team and project a positive, friendly image to patients and visitors, either in person or via telephone.

We are a medium-sized practice with approximately 8,000 patients across a wide area. Our team of clinicians and non-clinicians work collaboratively to provide excellent care to our patients.


Job responsibilities

Job Summary:

Assist and direct patients, provide support to the Practice team, and maintain a welcoming environment.

Specific duties include:

* Reception duties: handling appointments, processing requests, updating records, and managing communication.
* Administration: maintaining practice procedures, filing, photocopying, and record management.
* Telephone management: handling calls efficiently and professionally.
* Use of IT systems: ensuring data security and reporting issues.
* Other tasks: ensuring building security, making refreshments, and other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

* Good standard of general education


Experience

* Office working experience
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office
* Experience working with the public
* Reception or customer service experience
* Knowledge of medical terminology
* Experience in general practice or secondary care preferred
