Overview
Mountain Warehouse is a highly successful outdoor retailer offering quality outdoor clothing and equipment at low prices since 1997. With over 400 stores and more than 3,000 employees, we are looking for a passionate, operational, forward‑thinking and people‑focused Area Manager to lead our teams across the North East region.
Key Responsibilities
* Drive sales to achieve business budget and profit growth.
* Establish and maintain best practice in customer care.
* Build a people development strategy to support succession.
* Support and coach improvement in visual merchandising to achieve company standards.
* Deliver operational compliance across stores.
* Act as a liaison between head office and build and encourage relations.
* Ensure adherence to company procedure and policy, protecting the company’s assets and brand and build a strong relationship with people partners.
* Build strong relationships with key head office partners to develop a robust strategy.
* Recruit, coach, develop and manage a high performing team to the standard required by Mountain Warehouse.
* Visit stores on a regular cycle to ensure consistency and leave a footprint to support actions and target increased visits to reverse under performance.
* Constantly look for opportunities to grow profit by reducing costs.
Typical Week
* Drive key performance indicators through the store teams and ensure stores are commercial for the market.
* Analyse business results and trends and take appropriate action to drive sales and profitability.
* Visit stores and add value by leaving clear and supportive actions to meet the business strategy and directions of your line manager.
* Recognise outstanding sales performance across your teams.
* Develop, share and implement best practice across the area.
* Communicate regularly with the regional manager and head office concerning problems and highlighting opportunities.
* Be an inspirational leader, demonstrating positive service and management techniques.
Qualifications
* Proven successful track record in delivering service, sales and profit expectations at field level.
* Minimum 2 years of field management experience, preferably in retail or service sector – apparel experience a huge advantage.
* Proven people management, communication and leadership skills.
* Demonstrated track record of managing a project such as opening stores successfully and dealing efficiently with issues as they arise.
