AOI Operator / Inspector
Location: Shefford
Permanent, Full-Time | Monday–Friday, 8:30am–5:00pm
£27,000 – £33,000 per annum (DOE) + Overtime + Annual Profit Share
We are currently recruiting for an experienced AOI Operator / Inspector to join our client's quality and production team. This is a key role within the electronics manufacturing operation, focused on the inspection of PCB assemblies and electronic products to the highest standards.
Key Responsibilities

Operate and run Automated Optical Inspection (AOI) machinery
*
Conduct thorough inspection of:
*
Populated Surface Mount (SMT) and Conventional PCB Assemblies
*
Cable assemblies, harnesses, and unit builds
*
Perform first-off inspection and in-process checks to component level
*
Identify and report faults to production teams in a clear and constructive manner
*
Use optical tools and magnification for detailed inspections
*
Maintain inspection records and ensure quality documentation is up to date
*
Occasionally assist the Surface Mount department with final checks
*
Support packing and dispatch tasks for UK/local shipments as needed
Skills & Experience Required
*
Proven experience in AOI inspection within a PCB production environment
*
Strong understanding of electronic assemblies, inspection standards, and quality procedures
*
Confident using optical inspection equipment and fine tools
*
Familiarity with 1st-off inspections and working to component level
*
Able to interpret technical drawings and build documentation
*
Accurate, methodical, and reliable with a strong attention to detail
*
Comfortable working independently or as part of a team
Desirable (but not essential)
*
Experience with rework on electronic assemblies
*
Knowledge of IPC standards or quality management systems
*
Basic administrative and record-keeping skills
