Graduate roles in schools

Sunderland
Protocol Education
Posted: 29 April
Offer description

Looking for a role where you actually connect with students, not just sit at the back of the classroom?
This could be right up your street.

We’re working with a a variety of brilliant school settings across Sunderland and South Tyneside that are all about relationships, routine, and real impact. No standing on the sidelines here, you’ll be right in the mix from day one.

Think calm classrooms, strong routines, and staff who genuinely care.

This isn’t about being the most experienced person in the room. It’s about being the one students remember, the one who shows up, gets stuck in, and builds trust.

If you’re warm, confident, and not afraid to have a proper conversation with a young person, you’ll fit right in.

What you’ll actually be doing

No two days are the same, but here’s a flavour:

* Starting your day at breakfast club, chatting with students and setting the tone
* Sitting with pupils at lunch, building those all-important relationships
* Getting involved in lessons, moving around, supporting learning in real time
* Helping students stay focused and on track (with a bit of encouragement and humour along the way)
* Supporting literacy, correcting work, and giving feedback using orange pen
* Getting involved in activities, games, and the social side of school life

You’re not just supporting learning, you’re part of it.

What they’re looking for

You don’t need years of experience. You do need the right energy:

* Confident and approachable, not a wallflower
* Naturally chatty and great with people
* Positive, adaptable, and open to learning
* Keen to build proper relationships with students
* Someone who brings a bit of personality into the room

If you’ve worked with young people before, even better. If not, but you’ve got the right attitude, we still want to hear from you.

The day-to-day bits

* School days that includes breakfast club and structured lunch with students
* Finish with students around 2:15pm, then time for admin and support
* On site until 4:30pm (with guidance and support as you settle in)

Why this role stands out

There are roles where you genuinely make a difference. You’ll see it in the small wins, the improved confidence, the conversations that stick.

And the best part? You’ll be supported every step of the way while you find your feet.

Thinking longer term?

There’s room to grow here too, including opportunities like Team Teach training and ongoing development.
