As part of our growth, we are seeking an experienced Electrical Estimator to join our pre-construction team, supporting tenders and helping to secure key projects across the Northwest and beyond.
Role Purpose
The Electrical Estimator will be responsible for preparing accurate, competitive, and detailed cost estimates for electrical packages. Working closely with the pre-construction and design teams, you will assess drawings, specifications, and tender documents to produce pricing that aligns with client requirements and company margin expectations.
Key Responsibilities
* Review tender enquiries, drawings, and specifications to prepare accurate electrical cost estimates.
* Liaise with clients, consultants, and suppliers to obtain competitive quotations.
* Prepare bills of quantities, take-offs, and detailed cost breakdowns.
* Identify value engineering opportunities and alternative solutions to improve competitiveness.
* Support bid submissions, presentations, and clarifications during tender stages.
* Work with project managers and design engineers to ensure estimates reflect buildability and compliance.
* Maintain up-to-date knowledge of materials, labour rates, and market trends.
* Assist in handover from pre-construction to project delivery teams.
Key Requirements
* Proven experience as an Electrical Estimator within the building services/M&E sector.
* Strong knowledge of electrical systems (LV distribution, lighting, small power, fire alarms, containment, etc.).
* Familiarity with relevant regulations and industry standards (e.g., BS7671).
* Proficiency in estimating software and Microsoft Excel.
* Excellent commercial awareness and negotiation skills.
* Strong attention to detail with the ability to work to tight deadlines.
* HNC/HND or Degree in Electrical Engineering, Building Services, or related discipline.
* Membership of a professional body (e.g., IET) desirable.
