CT Lead Radiographer - Quality and Education
KEY DUTIES
1. Responsible for administration, performance monitoring, and data quality of the PACS/RIS and other integrated systems.
2. Responsible for training staff in CT.
3. Perform diagnostic imaging examinations in accordance with departmental protocols.
4. Be competent in the use of all appropriate imaging equipment.
5. Participate in on-call, flexible working, and out-of-hours service as required.
6. Responsible for QA programs in the designated area.
7. Abide by radiographic protocols and all Radiation Protection regulations.
8. Report all equipment malfunctions to appropriate personnel.
9. Send accurate image data to the Picture Archiving Communication System for storage, transmission, and archiving.
10. Authorize radiographic examinations for Junior Radiographers, Radiographic Assistant Practitioners, and Student Radiographers.
11. Authorize radionuclide imaging examinations on behalf of the ARSAC holder as appropriate.
12. Promote quality initiatives to ensure patient care quality and compliance with standards.
13. Undertake staff appraisals.
14. Establish and maintain effective communication with patients, especially on complex or sensitive issues.
15. Maintain a courteous manner in all communications with patients and staff.
16. Liaise with lead clinicians to ensure effective service operation.
17. Maintain good relationships with other departments and staff to ensure efficient service.
18. Communicate with service users and external agencies.
19. Clinical & Professional Responsibilities
20. Display expert clinical practice and support professional behaviour.
21. Provide clinical leadership and act as a CT clinical expert.
22. Support and advise staff, ensuring high clinical and professional standards.
23. Promote and ensure compliance with protocols.
24. Exercise clinical judgment in resource utilization and liaise with clinical teams as needed.
25. Perform clinical and technical procedures as per departmental policy.
26. Ensure compliance with HCPC regulations and COR code of conduct.
27. Administrative Responsibilities
28. Accurate data entry on Radiology Information System.
29. Proper documentation and storage of regulatory records.
30. Teaching & Training Responsibilities
31. Responsible for staff training and development.
32. Contribute to continuing education and departmental CPD programs.
33. Support clinical training and development of radiographers, assistant practitioners, and students.
34. Line Management/Supervisory Responsibilities
35. Manage daily department operations, workload planning, and resource allocation.
36. Monitor and evaluate service delivery, including waiting times.
37. Demonstrate leadership and promote teamwork.
38. Investigate patient and user complaints, resolving issues appropriately.
39. Contribute to service development and policy implementation.
40. Perform risk assessments and oversee equipment maintenance and procurement.
41. Promote quality initiatives and ensure compliance with health and safety legislation.
42. Ensure staff compliance with registration requirements.
43. Act as radiation protection supervisor.
44. Refer patients for ongoing imaging examinations as per protocols.
45. Participate in recruitment, staff performance monitoring, and staff development.
46. Monitor dose discrepancies, produce dose audits, and review incident reports.
