One whole-time/part-time post as Consultant in Gastroenterology with a specialist interest in Inflammatory Bowel Disease is available now at the Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.
The appointment is on a whole-time/part-time basis and applications are welcome from those who wish to job share.

Any person who is unable for personal reasons to work full-time will be eligible to be considered for the post. If such a person is appointed, modification of the job content will be discussed on a personal basis, in consultation with consultant colleagues. Suitably qualified job-share candidates will receive serious consideration.
Main duties of the job
PRINCIPAL ACTIVITIES:
Clinical
The post-holder’s duties will be primarily at the John Radcliffe in Oxford and the Horton Hospital in Banbury, and it is a condition of the appointment that the post-holder will be willing to work in any of the Trust’s locations. There is a strong possibility for the post to require working Saturday lists in the future, in which case there would be appropriate time off in lieu. Clinics are a standard h duration with new (min) and follow up (min) patients. Endoscopy lists are a standard units per list, with a mixture of upper gastrointestinal endoscopy ( unit diagnostic, units therapeutic) and colonoscopy ( units diagnostic including simple polypectomy, units therapeutic).
The Gastroenterology department have a team of secretarial and administrative support. Office space will be provided, with access to a computer/laptop. IT support is available from the Trust IT support team. One of the existing consultant team provide mentorship support to new Consultants joining the team
Teaching/Research
Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is a teaching hospital Trust, and the post-holder will be required to participate in programmes for teaching clinical students, training junior doctors and in clinical examinations. It is expected that this will be an integral part of everyday clinical activity. The post-holder’s contribution to teaching, training and research will be included in the regular job plan review.
