* Military knowledge/background - ideal would be ex-military officer / serving reservist.

* The Front Door Architect acts as the first point of architectural engagement for incoming projects with Digital requirements.
* They provide initial design guidance, shape early ideas, and ensure proposals align with architectural standards and strategic direction.
* The role requires strong communication skills to work confidently with senior military stakeholders, the ability to translate project intent into an initial architectural approach, and the judgement to advise when ideas need adaptation.
* Modelling skills are useful but not essential, as the focus is on leadership, stakeholder engagement and architectural coherence.

* Knowledge and experience of applying best practice for solution security (e.g., OWASP, NCSC cloud security principles).

* Experience of working in secure customer environments.
* Experience of common Enterprise Architecture frameworks such as TOGAF, Zachman, etc.
