Job Summary

We are seeking applications from enthusiastic individuals to our Paediatric Dentistry team as a 10 programmed activity (PA) Locum Consultant. The Paediatric Dentistry team forms part of the DentalNetworked Services at Barts Health. The role is very busy and will include outpatient management, local and generalanaesthetic treatment lists, management of theatre cases (including relevant ward, discharge andpost-operative management), supporting service colleagues with management of 18-week RTT, managing clinical governance processes as required within the Paediatric Dentistry department, delivery of service improvements and planning with operational and nursing colleagues and working closely with senior colleagues and clinicians to deliver exemplary care for our patients.The role will be based across the Royal London Dental Hospital.

Main duties of the job


* Provide input into multidisciplinary clinics such as hypodontia, ortho-paeds and cleft clinics when requested.

Provide exemplary patient care in line with professional standards.

Lead, manage and supervise outpatient clinics and treatment lists, management of inpatients and surgical cases.

Work closely with operational and nursing colleagues to deliver patient care in line with national referral to treatment (RTT) waiting time targets.

Development of sub-specialty interest in line with service requirements.

To be involved in departmental research.

To participate in the audit of patient services and to assist them in the direction and management of patient services.

To use resources at their disposal with due regard to care, safety and appropriateness.

To respond to and manage clinical incidents and complaints in line with clinical governance policies and procedures.

Liaise with local safeguarding teams to provide dental care to children and young people at risk.

* Full registration (or eligible for) with the United Kingdom General Dental Council (GDC)

* Intercollegiate Specialty Fellowship Exit Examination in Paediatric Dentistry or equivalent
* Up to date logbook

Desirable

* Fellowship in Dental Surgery or Membership of the Faculty Dental Surgery (of one of the Royal Colleges of Surgeons of the UK or Ireland), or equivalent

Experience

* Completion of a 3 year CCST training in Paediatric Dentistry (or equivalent) plus 2 year approved post CCST Fixed Term Training (FTTA) or equivalent or within 6 months of completion

* Experience of paediatric dental trauma, hypodontia and children with cleft palate
