Applicants are invited to join the Department of Clinical Neurophysiology, which provides a full range of neurophysiological tests on both the adult and paediatric populations. These include EEG, prolonged EEGs, sedation, sleep-deprived ambulatory EEGs, inpatient and home video telemetry, EMG, nerve conduction studies, and Evoked Potentials.
The post-holder will work within an existing team comprising one consultant, a clinical service manager, highly skilled clinical physiologists, specialised clinical physiologists, and trainee clinical scientists.
The department is accredited by the National School to train postgraduate master's level trainees and collaborates with Swansea University to provide placements and training for undergraduate PTP.
Main duties of the job You will provide a clinical service, including responsibility for the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of illness. Working with consultant colleagues and the multi-professional team, you will have ongoing responsibility for the well-being of all patients under your care, with appropriate delegation to staff in training. You will also be responsible for the safe, efficient, and effective functioning of the services, in line with the values, operational policies, and the medium-term plan of the Health Board. You are encouraged to consider service improvements and report safety concerns.
You will be required to adhere to the principles of good medical practice as laid down by the General Medical Council. Participation in the Health Board's risk management, clinical governance, and healthcare governance activities within the department, the Medicine Delivery Unit, and the Health Board is mandatory. Adherence to the Caldicott Principles of information governance is also required.

Person Specification Qualifications Essential
Registered with the GMC
Licensed to practice
On the Specialist Register with GMC as a neurophysiology specialist
Desirable
Further relevant degree/diploma
Teaching qualification or higher qualification in medical education
Experience Essential
Ability to develop effective working relationships at individual and multidisciplinary levels
Experience working with management and clinical colleagues to improve services
Valuing partnerships with other agencies
Experience in development and commissioning of neurophysiology services
Skills & Abilities Essential
Effective leadership and responsibility-taking capabilities
Understanding the importance of team working and change management
Knowledge of Prudent Healthcare principles
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
Commitment to learning and applying improvement science and methodology
