CSM2, a specialist equipment manufacturer supplying maritime atmosphere control systems and support services, has an exciting opportunity for a Technical Author.
As a Technical Author, your role will be to research, develop, write, and review technical information and guidance for new and existing products and publications, such as reports and manuals, for our UK and overseas customers. This information is critical to the reputation of the business.
Key Responsibilities
* Work with internal and external teams to obtain an in-depth understanding of the product and documentation requirements.
* Gather, analyze, and reuse content, focusing on single-sourcing opportunities.
* Research, organize, and present technical information clearly and concisely.
* Collaborate with subject matter experts (engineers, designers, technicians) to gather accurate information.
* Manage multiple projects and documents simultaneously.
* Create and maintain information architecture and configuration control.
* Produce high-quality documentation that meets standards and is suitable for the audience.
* Develop and maintain templates, style guides, and resources to ensure consistency.
* Create tutorials to assist end-users.
Skills, Knowledge, and Expertise
Essential:
* Proven experience in technical writing and documentation.
* Excellent written communication skills.
* Attention to detail and ability to produce high-quality documentation.
* Ability to understand complex technical concepts and simplify them.
* Collaborative work with cross-functional teams and project management skills.
* Good organizational and time management skills.
Desirable:
* Self-motivated and enthusiastic individual.
* University degree in Engineering or equivalent.
* Knowledge of MoD or shipbuilding practices.
* Presentation skills and professional demeanor.
Travel Requirements
Occasional travel within the UK to other group offices may be required.
Other Requirements
* Must have the right to live and work in the UK.
* Must be able to obtain UK security clearance at the Security Check level, which typically requires residency in the UK for at least 5 years.
