We are currently recruiting for a Parks and Green Spaces Tree Officer
The Parks and Green Spaces Team are responsible for the management and maintenance of the Council’s open spaces, including trees and woods.
We are looking for someone who will support the delivery of the Council’s upcoming Tree Strategy and established Tree Policy. They will also help manage the tree stock in parks, nature reserves, formal parks, cemeteries, council housing sites and other green spaces in the borough including monitoring, inspecting and developing work programmes.
We are looking for someone who has an enthusiasm for identifying, inspecting and recording the condition of trees, and a sound knowledge of tree species and characteristics. You must hold a recognised qualification in arboriculture and have practical experience in tree inspection and management. We need you to be well organised and a good communicator. You must also be able to work independently and hold a valid driving licence and access to a vehicle, as the role involves attending site inspections throughout the borough.
Essential skills and Experience needed.
* Experience of dealing with the public in a service environment.
* Experience of arboriculture work.
* Educated to degree level or equivalent in a relevant subject, such as horticultural studies, plus who has a level three diploma (or higher) in arboriculture or related subject, or is working towards one.
* Ability to identify species of trees and possess knowledge pertaining to the appropriate management of trees.
* Be able to communicate in a clear, accurate, confident and professional manner both orally and in writing.
* The ability to establish, maintain and develop programmes of work together with the resources required.
