You’ll take responsibility for design packages, collaborate with internal and external teams, and deliver practical, buildable solutions from concept through to detailed design and construction support.
You’ll also have the opportunity to mentor junior engineers and help shape the continued growth of the practice.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead and deliver designs for highways, drainage, utilities and SuDS systems for a variety of development projects.
* Prepare and review technical reports, drawings and detailed calculations.
* Use design software such as AutoCAD, Civil 3D or PDS, and Flow/MicroDrainage.
* Analyse topographical surveys, ground investigation data and project constraints.
* Liaise confidently with local authorities, clients, contractors and utility providers to support smooth project progress.
* Contribute to fee proposals, project programming and resource planning.
* Ensure all design work meets relevant UK legislation including the Highways Act, Water Industry Act, DMRB, Sewers for Adoption and applicable standards.
About You
* Degree-qualified in Civil Engineering (or equivalent).
* Proven roads and drainage design experience within the UK.
* Strong technical capability with excellent attention to detail.
* Clear and confident communicator who enjoys working collaboratively in a small team.
* Chartered or working towards Chartership (ICE) is advantageous but not essential.
The Benefits
As part of a supportive independent consultancy, you’ll enjoy:
* Hybrid working and flexible hours.
* Genuine progression opportunities within a growing local practice.
* Ongoing CPD support and professional development.
* Additional holiday purchase scheme.
* Friendly, down-to-earth team culture with regular social and community involvement.
* The chance to have real influence and visibility within the business.
