Location: This role will initially be based in Bradford but we’re moving our office to Leeds Valley Park in summer 2026, so you’ll be based there in the future / Hybrid Working (one to two office days a week – Bradford/Leeds and must be willing to travel to our sites across Yorkshire).
Work type: Permanent. 37 hours per week, Monday – Friday.

Within our team you will help us to deliver world class asset and operational excellence in pursuit of health and safety excellence; regulatory compliance; operational integrity and resilience; operational efficiency and business plan out performance.
Lead Continuous Improvement (CI) initiatives to realise benefits using CI methodology to design, communicate and embed sustainable process improvements across the wider business.
Develop a framework of potable Water Quality Continuous Improvement (WQ CI) across the wider business to generate improvement opportunities and lead delivery of sustainable improvement initiatives ensuring gains to efficiency and effectiveness of processes.

As our potable Water Quality Continuous Improvement Technical Lead you will:
 * Verify and investigate asset shortfalls through the Company business risk process, ensuring the challenge process is followed and appropriate issues are promoted to solution phase.
 * Recommend engineering solutions to asset problems where appropriate and lead root cause analysis (RCA) investigations for potable WQ failures and near misses.
 * Provide cover for the WQ CI manager when appropriate.
 * Provide technical expertise to wider teams on production and distribution processes and procedures, informed by findings from RCA investigations.
 * Lead or support the resolution of critical and complex incidents, coordinating with external partners where appropriate.
 * Contribute operational expertise and leadership to company strategies, informed by findings from RCA investigations.
 * Provide recommendations for resolution and promote technical solutions to key stakeholders across the business.
 * Ensure potable WQ risks (present and emerging) are managed on production and distribution sites. Work with the external bodies including the Regulators to ensure regulatory compliance.
 * Promote understanding and effective management of potable water quality risk processes for asset operations, helping prevent compliance failures and demonstrate robust risk management to regulators.
What skills & qualifications you will need:
 * Strong technical expertise in potable water quality, with comprehensive knowledge of applicable regulations/regulators
 * Build and maintains effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
 * Skilled at supporting organisational change and promoting a culture of continuous improvement.
 * Consistently demonstrates Yorkshire Water’s values and behaviours in all aspects of work.
 * Strong understanding of water treatment works (WTW) production and distribution processes.
 * Skilled in analysing and troubleshooting water treatment and distribution systems.
 * Skilled at writing clear and comprehensive incident reports for a range of audiences.
 * Demonstrate strong influencing and negotiation abilities, effectively shaping outcomes and decisions within the business.
 * Demonstrates ability to implement and sustain process improvements using recognised CI methodologies.
 * Degree (or equivalent) in Engineering, Science, or a related discipline.
 * Must hold a full and valid UK driving licence.
You will also benefit from having:
 * Previous experience working in a regulated environment, ideally within the water, wastewater, utilities, process, or manufacturing sectors.
 * Knowledge and experience applying continuous improvement methodologies (e.g., Lean, Six Sigma, Systems Thinking) to deliver process improvements
 * Strong understanding of water treatment works (WTW) production and distribution processes.
 * Strong IT skills, with competency in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint); experience with Power BI would be beneficial.
 * Familiarity with risk policy and process in a water industry context.
 * Project management skills and experience.
