Who are we looking for from you?
* Core Teaching Qualifications: Hold a teaching qualification (QTS/QTLS) or be willing to work towards it.
* Academic Background: Degree or equivalent, with Maths and English at least to Level 2. Specialist teaching qualification in a chosen subject is desirable.
* Experience: Experience teaching across the secondary age range. Proven track record as a creative and adaptable teacher who inspires and motivates students. Familiarity with virtual learning environments is desirable.
* Management & Organisation Skills: Strong administrative and organisational abilities. Capable of managing student behaviour effectively and committed to high levels of pastoral care in an alternative education setting.
* Partnership & Community Engagement: Proven experience collaborating with parents, community organisations, and stakeholders to support students with diverse and challenging needs.
* Knowledge: Solid understanding of equality of opportunity, safeguarding, child protection, and inclusion—particularly within alternative education environments that serve vulnerable young people.
* Problem-Solving: Quick to identify and resolve student challenges, with effective follow-up and individualised support strategies.
* Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Able to build meaningful engagement with students, parents/carers, colleagues, and external partners.
* Promotion of Values: Committed to promoting equality, diversity, safeguarding, wellbeing, and British values across all areas of work.
* Commitment to Excellence: A positive role model who sets and maintains high expectations for student behaviour and academic outcomes, while fostering an inclusive, supportive learning culture.
About The School
Progress Schools is part of The Progress Group, a national group of 13 independent OFSTED-regulated schools. We provide high-quality, supportive and inspirational teaching to 11–16-year-olds at Key Stage 3 and 4. Our bespoke approach ensures positive progression either back into mainstream education, or into the world of further education, work-based learning, or employment when leaving us in Year 11.
