This is an exciting opportunity to join Yorkshire Ambulance Service NHS Trust and play a key role in helping to provide an effective and efficient ambulance service to the people across the Yorkshire and Humber region.
The Trust's busy fleet team is seeking an experienced, confident and highly-skilled Sub-Workshop Manager to join its in-house team and support the delivery of their maintenance and repair services for all emergency and non-emergency vehicles. The Trust is looking to employ to the position at our Harrogate workshop.
Main duties of the job
The Sub-Workshop Manager post works 37.5 hours Monday to Friday and needs to be flexible in working hour's dependant on operational demand. As a member of the fleet management team you will have responsibility for the fleet maintenance and repairs allocated to Harrogate workshop and adhoc vehicles from other areas of the Trust. You will manage the relationship between the parts supply chain, outside contractors, internal colleagues, and the Harrogate fleet team ensuring the fleet is legally compliant, fully operational and maintained to an excellent standard at all times.

Job responsibilities
As the Sub-Workshop Manager, you will be responsible for the day to day line management of a small team of staff to ensure that all motor vehicle repairs, pre-planned maintenance and servicing are completed within an accurate timescale and in a cost-effective manner.
You will be responsible for driving continuous improvements, delivering significant efficiencies to deliver best in class fleet management.
You will also be required to supervise trainees, staff on secondment and outside contractors within the workplace.
Qualifications & Knowledge
* Professional knowledge acquired through degree plus specialist knowledge or equivalent level of knowledge acquired through courses and experience.
* Proven Leadership and team development experience.
Experience
* Extensive management experience within a leading mechanical, electrical/installation or engineering services trade.
* NHS experience of working in Trusts/Agencies.
* Good communication skills, both written and verbal. Demonstrate an ability to deal with issues with a wide range of parties, including colleagues within Fleet, Procurement, Finance & levels of seniority, outside organisations & suppliers where persuasive, motivational, negotiating, training skills are required.
* Innovative with strong fact finding and problem solving skills and the ability to work under own initiative.
* Valid Driving Licence (with C1 level).
