We are looking for qualified mental health nurses with CAMHS and/or inpatient experience to serve as Charge Nurse at the Meadow Unit – a brand new state-of-the-art facility caring for young people aged 11-18.
Responsibilities
* Provide day-to-day leadership to the ward and support the nursing team to develop.
* Assist the Ward Manager and Modern Matron with staff recruitment and interview support.
* Deliver preceptorship and complete induction training.
* Identify training needs within the nursing team and facilitate their delivery.
* Ensure the unit meets all Trust and National policies and guidelines, supporting audits and changes in standards or policy.
* Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, including teachers, psychologists, dietitians, occupational therapists, family therapist, consultant and medical team, administrators, activity coordinators, and healthcare assistants.
* Assist in sharing knowledge, ideas, and ensuring thorough and individualized assessment of young people and their families.
Qualifications
* Qualified Registered Mental Health Nurse (RMN).
* Relevant management courses or qualifications.
Experience
* Understanding of child protection issues.
* Experience with multidisciplinary approaches.
* Knowledge of the effects of mental illness on young people and their families.
* Extensive demonstrable experience working in CAMHS or inpatient units.
* Experience in quality improvement projects.
Skills and Knowledge
* Good understanding and working knowledge of the Mental Health Act 1983.
* Ability to adapt to different approaches of care.
