Branch: Sawston

AJW Distribution Ltd is an independently owned, family‑run business supplying roofing, cladding, and general building materials to contractors, builders, merchants, and the general public.

At AJW Distribution, service is at the heart of everything we do. We pride ourselves on going the extra mile to meet our customers’ needs, and we are now looking for an experienced and motivated Regional Manager to help drive our business forward.


Role

As Regional Manager, you will be responsible for the effective day‑to‑day management of the business across multiple branches. You will oversee all operational and commercial aspects to ensure profitability, sustainable growth, and exceptional customer satisfaction. You will provide strong leadership, manage budgets effectively, and build lasting relationships with staff, customers, and suppliers within the roofing and cladding sector. Working closely with the Group Health & Safety and Operations Manager, you will help deliver and improve company Policies, Procedures, Processes, and Operations, identifying opportunities for positive and beneficial change.


Key Responsibilities

* Full responsibility for branch/business P&L, budgets, and financial performance.
* Drive sales growth, monitor margins, and increase market share.
* Oversee procurement, stock control, and cost management to maximise profitability.
* Analyse sales performance and support Branch Managers and External Sales teams in achieving targets.
* Work closely with the Marketing team to suggest ideas and ensure effective implementation of campaigns across depots.
* Ensure branch operations fully support outstanding customer service.
* Oversee daily operations including sales, warehousing, logistics, and administration.
* Ensure strict compliance with all Health & Safety policies, procedures, and processes.
* Maintain high standards of site presentation and operational excellence.
* Identify opportunities to improve productivity and operational efficiency.
* Report key issues promptly to the Directors.
* Lead, coach, motivate, and develop teams to achieve their full potential.
* Oversee recruitment, onboarding, and training to maintain appropriate staffing levels.
* Manage performance, appraisals, employee relations, and disciplinary matters.
* Foster a positive, high‑performing culture through clear communication and regular briefings.
* Work closely with the HR Director to promote people strategies and ensure best‑practice employee relations.
* Build and maintain strong, long‑term relationships with customers, contractors, and suppliers.
* Ensure exceptional customer service standards are consistently delivered.
* Manage escalated customer issues professionally and effectively.
* Maintain strong product knowledge and awareness of industry trends.


About You

* Experience in the roofing industry is preferred but not essential (full training provided).
* Strong leadership and commercial awareness.
* Confident communicator who treats everyone with respect.
* Computer literate and keen to learn new systems and procedures.
* Eager to develop and quickly become a key member of the AJW team.

Salary

£55,000 – £75,000 DOE.
