A day in the life
Arrive at our factory, past the distant sea views and saying hello to the neighbouring squirrels in the woods across the road. Change into your work gear while catching up with the team, pop the machines that need to warm up on before making a coffee (yes we have a proper machine). Today two main things going through the pouring line, the caramel is ready to pour a batch of sea salt caramel truffles and then this afternoon is pouring and wrapping bars. Flip a coin to see which end of the line you will be on today, whether it's at the pouring end or the wrapping end.
You got heads, you're pouring; Making sure there are enough moulds going through, topping up the chocolate and checking that it's at the right temperature and fed into the hopper, checking fluidity on the caramel and ensuring the moulds are being filled correctly.
After the truffles are finished and in the fridge setting; time for family lunch with the team, this week Lou has made pasta bake, we do this every Wednesday and it's paid for by Chocolarder.
Back to chocolate, the one-shot is ready to go and Enzo is set up ready to wrap the bars as they come out of the cooling tunnel. Over the next few hours you manage to get through 1500 bars, you report back at the team catch up at 4pm before divvying out the cleaning and set up jobs for the following day.
5pm, time to get changed and the rest is up to you, a dip in the sea at Swanpool, G&T at Loveday's up the road or feet up on the sofa.
