Job Title: Teaching Assistant Level 1
Actual Annual Salary: £22,213 - £24,211 based on hours and weeks worked. Full Time Equivalent Salary: £25,136 - £27,398 (CLF Grade B) based on 37 hours, all year round. Contract Type: Permanent. Hours: Full-Time, 37 hours per week, Monday to Friday. Provisional Start Date: November 2025.
Your opportunity to support students to experience the best learning environment and reach their potential: We are looking for a Teaching Assistant to work within our SEN department with the passion and drive to make a difference to the lives of young people, both within and beyond the classroom, supporting the delivery of excellent education experiences and championing the life chances of all children in our academy. Through providing key educational, personal and social developmental support under the guidance of teaching colleagues you will support students by adopting relevant strategies and techniques, enabling them to access the curriculum, and engage with their learning to achieve their full potential. You will be working with a wide range of academy staff at all levels, receiving full ongoing training to support your development and have the ability to work term time only.
Responsibilities
* Support students to access the curriculum and engage with their learning, contributing to their educational development.
* Provide educational, personal and social development support under the guidance of teaching colleagues.
* Adopt relevant strategies and techniques to meet individual learning needs.
* Work with students on a one‑to‑one or small group basis and assist with behaviour management where required.
* Collaborate with a range of academy staff at all levels and participate in ongoing training and professional development.
About you
* You will have an understanding of classroom roles and how a teaching assistant supports students in their learning.
* You will be able to engage students and manage behaviour on a one‑to‑one or small group basis.
* You will be committed to undertaking relevant qualifications (e.g., NVQ Level 2/3 in Supporting Teaching and Learning or equivalent) and first aid qualifications to support professional development.
* You will have strong interpersonal skills, with empathy and active listening.
* You will have good planning and organisational skills regarding learning activities and support materials.
* You will have a keen interest in working with children and a commitment to inclusion and acceptance of all.
