Overview

Do you want a role where your work can genuinely change lives? We are looking for a Disabled Facilities Grant (DFG) Minor Works Case Worker to help deliver practical home adaptations that enable disabled and vulnerable residents to live safely, independently and with dignity in their own homes.

At Bracknell Forest, we pride ourselves on being a council that is stable and well-managed, where our employees can thrive in a supportive environment. We understand the importance of a healthy work–life balance and offer a variety of flexible working practices, including options for remote working and arrangements that allow you to work from home, dependent on the needs of the service.

This is a full-time, permanent role where your experience can make a real difference.

About You

As a DFG Minor Works Case Worker, you are a compassionate and organised professional who thrives in a customer-focused environment. With experience in casework, administration or financial processing, you bring strong transferable skills and a keen eye for detail. You are confident communicating with a wide range of people, including vulnerable customers, and you approach every interaction with empathy, professionalism and respect.

You are comfortable managing multiple cases at once, using your IT skills to stay organised and ensure nothing slips through the cracks. Whether you are carrying out financial assessments, preparing agreements or coordinating with partners, you take pride in delivering accurate, high-quality work. A full UK driving licence (or equivalent) is essential for this role.

While experience in housing, adaptations, social care or local government would be an advantage, what really matters is your commitment to public service and your ability to apply your skills in a meaningful, customer-centred way.

About The Team

You will be joining a dedicated and supportive team focused on delivering discretionary disabled facilities grants that make a real difference to people’s lives. Together, the team manages the end-to-end process, from application through to completion, working closely with occupational therapists, surveyors and contractors to ensure adaptations are delivered smoothly and effectively.

The team takes pride in providing clear guidance and empathetic support to residents throughout their journey, helping them remain safe and independent in their homes. Collaboration, professionalism and a shared commitment to excellent customer service are at the heart of everything we do, creating an environment where your contribution will be valued and your work will have a tangible impact.

* Supporting DFG Case Officers by coordinating documentation, monitoring progress, and following up on outstanding information.
* Acting as a key point of contact for customers and partner agencies.
* Maintaining accurate, audit-ready records and contributing to continuous service improvement.

Our Benefits

* 25 days annual leave increasing to 28 days after 3 years’ continuous service, with the opportunity to buy up to 10 and sell up to 5 days.
* Hybrid working opportunities to support wellbeing and work–life balance.
* Paid employee volunteering scheme.
* Local government pension scheme, with life insurance cover.
* Recognition of continuous service attained within the NHS and UKHSA when calculating some benefits. (Terms and Conditions apply)
* Career development through internal and external training opportunities.
* Enhanced maternity, paternity, adoption and fostering leave.
