LOCATION: Broadcasting House, London (Hybrid)
PROPOSED SALARY RANGE: £42,000 - £55,000 depending on relevant skills, knowledge and experience. The expected salary range for this role reflects internal benchmarking and external market insights.

PURPOSE OF THE ROLE Join BBC Music as a Commissioning Producer, helping to shape, grow and connect our on demand podcast brands with audiences wherever they are. Working across audio and visual, you will play a key role in ensuring our content not only stands out creatively, but reaches the right audiences on the right platforms. We're looking for people who are thinking beyond the idea itself to how it travels, lands and grows. Working cross functionally with experts at BBC Sounds, marketing and social you will help deliver music storytelling that sparks conversation and strengthens the BBC's presence in the on demand space
OUR CONTENT:
We're a multi award winning commissioning team making some of the BBC's biggest on demand music titles. This includes Sidetracked, the UK's number one music podcast, The Rise and Fall of..., which was named one of the Guardian's top podcasts last year, and the returning Pop Top 10s with Scott Mills and Rylan. A lot of what we do sits around big cultural moments, from Glastonbury to Eurovision to major artist landmark moments. Our content works in partnership with the BBC's major music brands as well as closely with some of the world's biggest artists and their teams.

You will join a collaborative, ambitious team at the centre of the BBC's on demand music strategy. This is an opportunity to develop formats that reach millions, influence how audiences discover music and help define the BBC's creative identity across Sounds, iPlayer, social platforms and more. This role will also be part of the broader team that has a big focus on what comes next, with a strong pipeline of new ideas in development across audio, visual and digital.

You might already be in a commissioning style role or you might come from a background in marketing, social, digital, music, production or audience development. YOUR KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND IMPACT Oversee the growth of distinctive content across our podcast, visual podcast and playlist slate.
Develop and shape creative ideas that reflect music culture and are designed with a clear audience and platform in mind.
Use audience insight, performance data and emerging trends to inform strategy, evolve formats, build partnerships and grow audiences, ensuring alignment with BBC editorial standards.
Work cross functionally with talent, agents, labels and influencers to grow titles in everyone's interest showing ambition at every turn.
Work cross functionally with internal stakeholders including production, editorial, social, marketing and platform teams to deliver a cohesive, multi-platform approach from idea to audience.
Working with senior leaders across BBC Music / Pop to guide On Demand growth and build audiences of the future
ESSENTIAL CRITERIA
Experience developing creative content across audio, visual or digital platforms with demonstrable understanding of audience growth, engagement strategies and how content travels across social and digital ecosystems.
Knowledge of contemporary music culture, social trends and on demand listening behaviours.
Ability to translate insight and data into creative and editorial strategy, and manage projects from concept through to delivery.
Experience of working with creative leaders to influence and guide on best practice and ambitious strategies for on demand brand growth.
Strong editorial judgement and a clear understanding of what makes content resonate with audiences across different platforms.
DESIRBLE:
A background in marketing, audience development, social media or digital strategy.
Experience overseeing supplier made productions.
Familiarity with platform strategies or music discovery formats.
Understanding of social first brand development, fandom or online community engagement.
Knowledge of digital rights, music clearances or talent management processes.
