Position Title: Maintenance Technician (mechanical/electrical)
Location: Preston, UK
Position Overview:
The Maintenance Technician reports to the Maintenance Manager and is responsible for both preventative and reactive maintenance of plant equipment and infrastructure. This role includes troubleshooting, repairs, and ensuring compliance with business and health & safety regulations to maintain optimal production conditions.
Primary Responsibilities:
1. Schedule, execute, and manage maintenance work to ensure all plant equipment remains operational.
2. Plan and perform preventative maintenance on machinery and equipment to maximize machine uptime.
3. Diagnose and analyse issues with equipment and infrastructure.
4. Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, or pneumatic assemblies in accordance with diagrams, sketches, operational manuals, and manufacturer specifications.
5. Identify potential equipment failures and recommend or implement preventive actions.
6. Document maintenance activities and ensure all technical records are accurately completed and stored.
7. Perform all operations in compliance with legal requirements and Company EHS policies, including storage and housekeeping standards.
8. Undertake other reasonable duties as assigned by the line manager.
Minimum Requirements:
9. Relevant maintenance qualifications, such as a National Diploma, apprenticeship, NVQ, HNC, etc.
10. Minimum of 3 years’ industrial maintenance experience.
11. Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
12. Strong understanding of mechanical plans and the ability to analyse and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, or pneumatic systems.
13. Ability to read and interpret hydraulic and pneumatic diagrams, including P&IDs.
14. Hands-on approach to problem-solving.
15. Proficiency in PC use within a Windows environment
