Description
The main aim of this role it to work with the wider Construction department to achieve excellence in teaching, learning and assessment through innovative and excellent practice. You will be expected to create effective and stimulating learning opportunities for all students through high quality teaching, learning and assessment.
You will deliver outstanding teaching and learning on all levels; from Level 1 through to L3. You will also deliver evening programmes and offer a wide range of current and relevant industry/practitioner skills.
You will be able to teach a large scope of electrical skills and will possess; theory, practical and assessing skills as well as be able to promote innovative work and assist in the development of the electrical installation curriculum.
You will create and maintain effective and stimulating opportunities for all students through high quality teaching, learning and assessment that enable progression and development in all aspects of their College experience.
Key Responsibilities
* To contribute fully to the mission and values statement of the College ensuring its effective implementation in all aspects of College life.
* To contribute to the College and curriculum area strategic objectives and to actively engage in the annual review.
* To be aware of national developments in subject area and update knowledge and skills on an annual basis.
* To plan, prepare and deliver high quality lessons in order to achieve effective management of the learning process.
* Plan and use a range of effective and appropriate teaching and learning techniques to engage and motivate students and encourage independence and student autonomy.
* Establish a purposeful and motivating learning environment where students feel safe, secure, confident and valued.
* Establish and maintain procedures with students which promote and maintain appropriate behaviour, communication and respect for others, while challenging discriminatory behaviour and attitudes.
* To set and mark work in accordance with College and School Assessment policies, to record work carried out and assessment of same.
* To track all students’ progress and attendance in accordance with agreed College systems and policies.
* To provide a balance of appropriate teaching styles and learning experiences.
* To be aware of external/internal assessment procedures and to play and appropriate part in their implementation.
* Evaluate and improve own communication skills to maximise effective communication and overcome barriers.
* To liaise with Head of School in contributing to the design of programmes and teaching approaches which will enable curriculum areas to achieve high standards and value added
* To liaise with Head of School and curriculum teams in contributing to the administration necessary to support the teaching, learning and assessment within the subject area.
* To work with colleagues with relevant expertise to identify and address additional student English and Maths skills development in subject area.
* To review own professional development needs and to participate fully in future training and development.
* To communicate and consult with parents, carers and students including Parent’s Evening, Welcome Evenings, events and open evenings.
* To ensure that all students in the subject area comply with College’s policies and procedures.
* To provide enrichment opportunities that are exciting, motivating and enhance the student experience.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
Essential Criteria
* Educated to Level 4 e.g. Degree or equivalent in Electrical Installation.
* Assessor Award (A1 or TAQA).
* Minimum of Level 2 literacy and numeracy or willingness to complete.
* Recent experience of teaching and assessing on Electrical Installation courses.
* Knowledge and understanding of Electrical provision.
* Engaged in Continuing Professional Development.
* Excellent computer literacy – ability to use the current IT programs of the College.
* High level of communication and interpersonal skills.
* Ability to set high standards for students, colleagues and for themselves.
Desirable Criteria
* A recognised Teaching qualification and extensive vocational experience.
* Quality Assurance / IQA award.
* Professional qualification relevant to the subject area. (ECS Gold Card).
* BS7671 18th Edition and C&G 2391 Testing & Inspection/or C&G 2394/5.
* Proven relevant experience of curriculum planning, development & delivery in Electrical Installation.
* Experience of online delivery.
* An ICT qualification.
* Membership of a relevant professional body (e.g. MIET).
* Experience of assessing students’ needs and planning curriculum for their benefit including Technology Enhanced Learning.
* Good understanding of curriculum development to meet the training needs of employers.
* Good understanding of quality assurance and improvement processes.
* Fluent speaking in any of the mentioned languages: Arabic, Chinese, Farsi, Kurdish Sorani, Tigrinya, Spanish, French or Portuguese.
