Overview
We’re looking for a Lead Commercial Project Manager to join our rapidly growing team in Newcastle upon Tyne. In this role, you’ll report to the Commercial Head of Operations, working with our team in managing and optimizing targeted financial results with due professional care.
Responsibilities
* Managing a team of Commercial Project Managers and Project Accountants with the aim of optimizing business financial results.
* Continually maintaining accurate books & records and achieving financial forecast accuracy targets (for revenue, profit and cash flow) in line with business KPIs.
* Ensuring compliance with FRG requirements and RIC controls; working together with the Finance Manager, liaising with Hub Accounting and RIC.
* Responsible for delivering period / quarter / year‑end financial targets in line with our budgets.
* Coordinating and delivering project forecasts on a monthly basis; ensuring timely finalisation and approval of project control sheets and any required accounting papers.
* Periodically addressing GRIR / PO queries, excess billings & costs and FX hedging topics in conjunction with our Finance Team and ensuring timely closure of projects in SAP.
* Providing tender CPM resource man‑hour estimates; identifying and allocating team resources to new project orders; providing letters of empowerment; ensuring timely order booking (further to ORCA completion) and subsequent order entry calculation.
* Monitoring team performance to ensure timely adherence to monthly reporting timetables and thorough population of our F&C tools (i.e. Dash. PM Impact, PMTx).
* Engaging customer, JV partner and subcontractor stakeholders at senior levels as required, to address and resolve escalated financial / accounting topics.
* Assisting in business budget formulation, relative to project cash, profit and revenue forecasting.
* Recruiting additional resources as required to deliver our pipeline of projects; providing mentoring / coaching & onboarding to new team members.
* Liaising & maintaining relations with the F&C Competence Hub team (Romania) relative to UK&I project accountant resource and recruitment of new team members.
* Supporting the Senior Operational Projects Controller, Lead CCM and Finance Manager in respect of identification and ongoing management of bonds & guarantees in GREAT.
* Supporting the Commercial Head of Operations with line manager duties for the CPM / project accountant team, including interns and CAP members; undertaking regular 1‑2‑1 meetings and target setting reviews.
* Identifying skills gaps and growth / development for self and team, with ongoing monitoring of progress in line with our training matrix. Ensuring team competence is maintained, aligned to the Siemens Energy Com Cert pathway.
* Working together with the SOPC to identify and maximise the use of digital solutions; ensuring standardisation and consistency of financial reporting & records and development / updating of financial / accounting processes and strategies.
Qualifications
* A practitioner with 5 to 10 years experience in one of these fields: Financial Controlling / Financial Accounting / Commercial Project Management / Business Administration.
* Experience in project budgeting and financial management of risks/opportunities.
* Chartered Accountant or similar would be advantageous (CIMA / ACCA).
* Competent in financial accounting / management.
* Competent in working collaboratively and cooperatively.
* Previous experience of managing a financial/commercial team in a major project environment.
* Passionate about personal and team ongoing development.
* A competent communicator with internal and external stakeholders.
* Experienced in / with international projects and intercultural teams.
