Fife Council are developing their Service to support birth parents who have had children permanently removed from their care. This is a new post for a full-time, permanent, Social Work Assistant. This new and exciting role will support the Senior Practitioner responsible for the day to day running of Service. The successful candidate will work primarily with birth parents as well as with colleagues in both the Adoption Team & C&F Enhanced Teams and partner agencies.
The successful candidate will:
1. Be passionate about developing this Service to support birth parents with a particular emphasis on the unique needs of birth mothers
2. Be confident and capable in managing group dynamics and promoting inclusion and engagement
3. Be able to work on a 1:1 basis to provide individual support to birth parents
4. Establish close & effective working relationships with colleagues across a range of services to provide support to birth parents
5. Contribute to the training and development of Adopters and Foster Carers
The Person
6. Experience in a Children and Family setting
7. Knowledge and understanding of Child and Adult Protection guidelines and information sharing protocols
8. Experience of joint working to achieve common goals
9. Experience of working with people affected by adoption
10. Knowledge and understanding of theory underpinning practice in relevant areas of Social Work
11. Experience of group work
12. Empathetic and understanding
13. Ability to think out with the box to problem solve
14. PVG scheme membership
15. Ability to travel within and out with Fife
