Bolster Community is a values-led, award-winning charity based in Newry. We support individuals and families — especially those facing learning disabilities, social disadvantage, or rural isolation — to live fuller, more connected lives.
Through our innovative social enterprise, Acorn, we deliver short breaks and vocational training — from crafting soy candles and wax melts to building real-world employment skills.
We are seeking a passionate, entrepreneurial Income & Enterprise Manager to lead and grow our hybrid model of enterprise, impact, and fundraising. You'll be at the heart of shaping Bolster’s future — increasing income, empowering people, and expanding opportunity.
• Develop and implement an income generation plan in collaboration with the CEO and operational leadership team.
• Deliver a sustainable strategy covering enterprise sales, donor development, grants, campaigns, and social investment.
• Build strategic relationships with funders, partners, commissioners, and community stakeholders.
• Stay informed on trends in social enterprise, fundraising, and ethical trading to guide innovation.
• Support and mentor staff and volunteers involved in enterprise and fundraising.
Business Development & Income Generation
• Grow income through online, in-store, wholesale, events, and community fundraising.
• Identify and secure new funding opportunities via grants, tenders, and CSR partnerships.
• Oversee pricing, merchandising, and profitability to ensure commercial viability.
Service Coordination
• Plan and price meaningful short-breaks and vocational experiences for adults with learning disabilities.
• Ensure services are person-centred, outcomes-based, and compliant with safeguarding standards.
• Promote inclusive participation, supporting individuals to build skills and employment pathways.
Marketing & Communications
• Collaborate with the Communications team to market products and services across digital, print, and social media.
• Represent Bolster Community at events and sector forums as a positive ambassador.
• Ensure all messaging reflects our values and communicates impact clearly.
Monitoring, Impact & Reporting
• Track and evaluate income, sales, service outcomes, and fundraising performance.
• Lead on social impact measurement and reporting to funders and stakeholders.
• Use insights for continuous improvement and strategic decision-making.
• A third level degree or equivalent qualification in a relevant discipline or 4 years' experience in a senior management role with responsibility for business or service functions.
• Strong knowledge of business case writing and income generation.
• Entrepreneurial thinker with commercial awareness and social impact focus.
• Excellent communication, relationship-building, and project management skills.
• Experience supervising staff and volunteers.
• A full current driving licence with access to a car or access to transport to fulfil the requirements of the post
• Knowledge of commissioning structures and philanthropic organisations.
• Understanding of the disability, social care, or community development sector.
• Familiarity with self-directed support, personal budgets, or public sector commissioning.
• Experience in donor-led or community fundraising.
