Role Overview
We are seeking a commercially focused Head of Finance to take ownership of the company's financial strategy and operations. Reporting directly to the Board, this is a critical leadership role with oversight of all financial activities across the business and its subsidiaries.
This hands-on position requires an experienced finance professional from the construction or fit-out sector, capable of influencing decision-making and driving financial performance at a strategic level.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Lead all financial operations including management accounting, reporting, and controls
2. Cash flow forecasting, working capital management, and funding strategies
3. Deliver monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports to senior leadership
4. Prepare and manage annual budgets and long-term financial plans
5. Oversee HMRC compliance, including CIS, VAT, and corporation tax
6. Lead on year-end processes and statutory account preparation
7. Manage supplier/subcontractor payment terms and credit control
8. Develop and maintain robust financial policies and procedures
9. Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs)
10. Collaborate with commercial and operational teams to support project performance
11. Provide financial insight to support business growth and margin improvement
12. Lead on intercompany accounting and consolidation across group entities
13. Mentor and guide junior finance staff (if applicable)
14. Act as a financial business partner to the leadership team, offering strategic advice
Requirements:
15. ACA / ACCA / CIMA qualified (or equivalent)
16. Minimum 7 years of senior-level finance experience, ideally within the construction or specialist fit-out industry
17. Strong understanding of project costing, WIP, and contract accounting
18. Advanced skills in Xero and Excel
19. Proven track record of leading finance functions and supporting business strategy
20. Commercially astute, with strong analytical and communication skills
21. Detail-oriented, highly organised, and confident working in a fast-paced environment
22. Experience managing group entities and overseeing financial consolidations
