CarmichaelUK are recruiting for a Planning Manager on behalf of a Tier 1 contractor, working on a Water Treatment project in Cambridgeshire. This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Planning Manager to lead a site-based planning function, providing strategic input into project delivery from early works through to commissioning.
The Role:
As Planning Manager, you will take ownership of developing and managing detailed construction programmes that drive delivery, highlight risks, and communicate progress effectively to internal and external stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead the planning team on site and set the strategic direction for planning activities.
Develop collaborative planning approaches that engage the entire project team.
Produce and maintain clear programme visuals (e.g., time chainage, 4D, phasing).
Identify and drive efficiencies across the programme to mitigate risk and improve performance.
Lead peer reviews and challenge planning inputs from across the delivery team.
Coordinate closely with the project controls team to build and maintain effective reporting tools and dashboards.
Regularly present programme updates and Earned Value analysis.
Support client engagement and maintain programme buy-in throughout the project lifecycle.
What We're Looking For:
Experience in planning on water treatment or infrastructure projects (including commissioning phase)
Strong background in construction delivery (e.g., Site or Section Engineer on civils projects)
Proficient in multiple planning methods and software tools (Primavera P6, Asta, etc.)
Solid understanding of NEC and other contract forms and their impact on programme management
Engineering or construction-related qualification (Degree / HNC / HND)
Strong communicator – able to convey complex programme data in a clear and engaging format
