The University of Lincoln seeks an ambitious candidate with an impressive applied AI research profile to be appointed at the Associate Professor level into a new, strategically important research and innovation centre (Centre for Defence and Security AI - launched 2024). The focus is on advanced data analytics and applied AI systems supporting complex, high-stakes decision-making.
You will be responsible for growing and leading a research portfolio, delivering innovation projects involving advanced data analytics and AI-based software systems, and collaborating with local military and industry partners. The role includes pursuing research grants, supervising postdoctoral researchers and PhD students, publishing in top journals and conferences, and strengthening industry partnerships.
There will be no teaching commitments for an agreed period to focus on research excellence. The university emphasizes applied AI work, especially relevant to defence and security sectors, given its proximity to RAF and defence bases in Lincolnshire.
This is a permanent, full-time position with a salary of £57,422 per annum. Candidates must undergo UK national security vetting processes. The role offers significant opportunities for impact, leadership, and career advancement with strong university support.
