Job Summary
Are you a forward‑thinking, innovative plastic surgeon looking to be part of the expansion of our Plastic Surgery Service? You will undertake sessions at both Peterborough City Hospital and Hinchingbrooke Hospital to provide high‑quality theatre and outpatient care.
You must be on the General Medical Council Specialist Register and have completed the FRCS(Plast) or equivalent at the time of application. All other categories of doctors must be on the GMC Specialist Register to be considered for a consultant appointment.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide elective plastic surgery outpatient and theatre services at all main sites in conjunction with colleagues.
* Commit to a sessional schedule of 10 PA’s with 1.5 SPAs, with no formal on‑call commitments; details will be mutually agreed at the start of employment.
* Take continuing responsibility for patient care and enable proper functioning of the service, including delegation and training of staff.
* Manage day‑to‑day clinic operations and ensure coverage of services during planned absences.
* Contribute to the development of the Plastic Surgery Department and the broader service.

Person Specification
Essential
* MBBS or equivalent medical degree at the time of application
* Successful completion of FRCS(Plast) or equivalent at time of application
* Significant experience in NHS working practices
* Entry on the UK Specialist Register via CCT, CESR, or equivalent within six months of interview date
* Full registration with the General Medical Council at appointment and current licence to practice
* Evidence of achievement in line with GMC standards in Good Medical Practice and supported by workplace assessments and multisource feedback
* Up‑to‑date fitness to practice, awareness of own training needs, and engagement with appraisal and revalidation processes
* Demonstrated awareness of clinical governance and learning from errors
* Evidence of active audit participation – at least one personal audit in the last two years
* Experience with the audit process and continuous quality improvement
Desirable
* Participation in research with published papers in peer‑reviewed journals and ability to critically appraise evidence
* Experience supervising doctors in training and other colleagues
