Job Title: Commissioning Manager – Power Generation
Location: United Kingdom (Field-Based)
Job Type: Full-Time | Project-Based Contract (18 Months)
Reports To: Director of Projects
Overview:
A major power generation project is seeking an experienced Commissioning Manager to lead the commissioning of a large-scale thermal power facility. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring all plant systems are tested, validated, and transitioned safely and efficiently into operational status.
Key Responsibilities:
* Plan, coordinate, and execute mechanical commissioning activities.
* Develop and maintain detailed commissioning schedules and resource plans.
* Collaborate closely with construction, engineering, QA/QC, and operations teams to align on scope and sequence.
* Manage punch list resolution, functional testing, system start-up, and final turnover to operations.
* Lead daily commissioning meetings and status updates with stakeholders.
* Ensure compliance with HSE standards and all regulatory requirements.
* Review and sign off on commissioning documentation, including test records and as-built reports.
* Provide technical input during system troubleshooting and optimization.
Qualifications:
* Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Power Systems Engineering (or equivalent practical experience).
* 10+ years of experience in commissioning, at least 5 of which in power generation.
* Proven background commissioning thermal power assets (CCGT, coal, biomass, or similar).
* Strong leadership, coordination, and decision-making skills in high-pressure environments.
* Familiarity with industry standards such as IEEE, ASME, and NFPA.
* Willingness to work on-site in a remote, field-based environment for extended periods.
* Experience with DCS systems, loop testing, and plant performance verification is preferred.
