Wrightington, Wigan and Leigh NHS Foundation Trust are currently recruiting for a Domestic Supervisor role within our Domestic team at Royal Albert Edward Infirmary, Wigan.
The post will be working 30 hours per week (Monday to Friday 07.00 - 13.00)
The post holder should have a flexible approach to working hours and be able to cover a variety of shift patterns as the service requires.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the daily supervision of the Domestic Services, completing all supervisory duties.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
7. Allocate & organise day-to-day work tasks and activities, adjust staff rotas for unplanned absences and release of staff for training.
8. Security of buildings.
9. Monitoring of performance of duties as laid down in work schedules
10. Performance of duties in accordance with approved methods, frequencies and standards.
11. Training & assessment of staff in the use of equipment machinery, COSHH and cleaning materials as directed.
12. Allocation of cleaning materials and equipment.
13. Make spot checks on wards and Departments to check on cleaning standards.
14. Monitor the compliance of the uniform policy.
15. Attend relevant training courses as directed.
16. Completion of Datix reporting system.
17. Adopt a flexible approach when undertaking duties as part of a team, including colleagues and other staff, working towards the highest possible standards of patient care.
18. Hospital site key holder, key allocation of, user of alarm systems
19. Audit cleaning standards to National Standards and Quality assurance procedures on wards and Departments, take corrective action when necessary.
20. Liaises with wards, departments and accommodation.
21. Handles complaints and takes preliminary action to resolve.
22. Take action as necessary on reported accidents at work and defects with machinery and buildings. Carry out initial investigations into accidents at work.
23. Implement policies and make recommendations to improve or change work practices for own area.
24. Assist with Interview & selection of staff in compliance with the HR Recruitment policy.
25. Training & assessing in conjunction with the Domestic Services Training protocols.
This vacancy is open to all internal candidates. NHS Employees should ideally secure their manager’s agreement for a secondment arrangement ideally prior to applying, as this will be a condition of any offer made. This vacancy is advertised on a fixed term basis as it is to provide cover for a substantive employee on secondment and will end in July 2026 or when the substantive postholder returns. Whilst this post is advertised on a fixed term / secondment basis there is the potential that this post may become permanent in the future.

26. C.I.L.B City and Guilds N.V.Q Level 1&2 or equivalent qualification
27. Ability to demonstrate supervisory experience in a Domestic or equivalent role.
