Positive Employment is currently recruiting for a Carpenter for our client a local government organisation in Southampton.The successful candidate will be carrying out a range of construction and property maintenance activities within Southampton City boundary.This role is a 3 month initial contract with the possibility to extend.Duties and Responsibilities but not limited to:
* Produce a quality and quantity of work commensurate with that of an experienced and competent Carpenter with the ability to adapt and undertake a range of tasks outside of the initial core trade.
* Provide reasonable estimates of time and materials (upon request) to complete tasks, orders or projects within strict timescales.
* Plan and measure work carefully to minimise waste.
* Interpret design plans, drawings, specifications and written instructions correctly.
* Mentor and impart practical information, instruction and training to apprentices, and/or trainees as appropriate and in accordance with locally agreed guidelines.
* Communicate with customers, show proof of identity, explain the purpose and nature of the work, arrange appointments, note any enquiries / complaints and respond or report as appropriate and in a manner which maintains public confidence in the service.
Personal Requirements:
* To have served a recognised apprenticeship to a Level 3 qualification in Wood Occupations or equivalent with 3 years’ experience of working in the domestic, commercial construction & maintenance environment.
* Experience of working with UPVC installation and property maintenance would be an advantage, it is essential to have a practical understanding of the construction / property maintenance industry.
* Ability to multi-task and carry out small working in other trade disciplines i.e. Painting and Decorating / Bricklaying / Plumbing / Plastering etc.
* Current full UK driving licence in order to drive vehicles throughout the City.
* Ability to use specialist tools, fault finding / analysing and solving problems with precision and speed to meet strict deadlines whilst dealing with interruptions.
Working Hours:36hrs / 7:30am - 16:15pm / Monday to FridayPay: £23.70 per hrPlease note this role is within the scope of IR35. #J-18808-Ljbffr
