Apprenticeship Manager

The Apprenticeship Manager will be responsible for overseeing and managing the apprenticeship programs within GBS. The primary purpose of the role is to support and guide apprentices through their training and development, ensuring they gain the necessary skills and knowledge to succeed in their chosen profession to support the growth of their already established. The ideal candidate for this position will have both Apprenticeship funding knowledge and experience providing pastoral, learning and/or peer-to-peer support.
Main Responsibilities
• Develop and coordinate the delivery of an annual plan for the recruitment of apprentices aligned to business needs including relevant workforce strategies and plans
• Develop and maintain relationships with local schools, colleges and universities, attending career fairs and other similar events as required
• Working with Finance to manage the Company’s apprenticeship levy account and tracking the levy budget, monitoring and reporting on spend with the aim of ensuring that all available funds are fully utilised
• Identify and select appropriate training providers to deliver GBS’ apprenticeship program
• Ensure participants in the apprenticeship program benefit from pastoral, learning and peer-to-peer support, including coaching, mentoring and career advice.
• Evaluate the delivery and impact of the apprenticeship program, and lead the development and coordination of action plans to address opportunities for improvement
• Deliver induction to new apprentices if and when required, to ensure a high standard of onboarding take place.
• Be an ambassador for the Apprenticeship program and the ‘go to person’ for any questions about apprenticeship processes.
• Provide data analysis and reporting of registered learning using the new Digital Apprenticeship Service system
• Developing, reviewing, amending and promoting policy, guidelines and procedures which sit alongside the requirements of the Apprenticeship Levy.
• Advising managers on the apprenticeship levy and requirements and on the best way to support apprentices with their portfolio
• Where appropriate, take action to address any manager concerns and provide advice and support.
• Carry out end-of-placement reviews with supervisors/managers and learners
• Ensuring that all learners receive good quality Information, Advice and Guidance before, during and after their studies.
• Work with the Staff Training team to provide managers with a comprehensive induction within two weeks of the apprentice commencing.
• Work collaboratively with colleagues in the resourcing team to develop creative ways to enhance and promote GBS’ employer brand and build the Company’s reputation as a destination employer
• In addition to the above areas of responsibility, the position maybe required to undertake any other reasonable duties relating to the broad scope of the position.
Requirements
• In-depth knowledge of the apprenticeship program
• Significant relevant work experience within HR, Organisational Development, apprenticeships, or education
• Degree or equivalent professional qualification or experience
• Experience leading the design and delivery of apprenticeships
• Customer-focused and driven to achieve high standards
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to represent and promote the Company in external settings – for example, at careers fairs
• Ability to develop effective working relationships with a broad range of stakeholders including senior managers and external suppliers Ability to coach, influence and persuade stakeholders and peers
• Ability to work quickly and accurately while managing competing deadlines
• Ability to think laterally and develop creative solutions to challenging problems
• Tenacious, self-sufficient and confident working on own initiative
