Job Title: Senior Engineering, Construction and Renewable Energy Underwriter

Are you a dynamic trader with leadership skills and a strong background in Engineering, Construction, and/or Renewable Energy? Aviva is seeking a talented Senior Underwriter to join our team. This role offers an excellent opportunity to be part of a growing team, working with brokers in the vibrant regional market. The position is primarily based in Manchester or Leeds, with flexible smart working arrangements combining home and office work.
As a Senior Underwriter, you will deliver outstanding service to customers and brokers, drive new and existing business relationships, and contribute to underwriting profitability, trading, and service goals. You will also mentor colleagues and develop tailored solutions for clients. This role is ideal for a dynamic trader with leadership qualities, industry experience, and a proven track record in winning business.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Develop positive relationships with customers and brokers, providing technical support and handling queries.
2. Influence market contacts through business development and customer engagement.
3. Understand customer needs to provide appropriate solutions aligned with Aviva’s underwriting strategy and values.
4. Mentor colleagues and contribute to capability development.
5. Implement underwriting strategy, enhance underwriting quality, serve as technical authority, and manage a regional P+L.
Required Skills and Experience:
1. Strong underwriting expertise in Engineering, Construction, and/or Renewable Energy with a successful track record.
2. Experience in process improvement within underwriting procedures.
3. Ability to manage underwriting caseload within a regulatory environment.
4. Excellent business development and customer engagement skills.
5. Strong communication and negotiation skills.
