Pharmacy Technician - Rotational Band 4-5

Is a rotational pharmacy technician role across Southampton General Hospital (SGH) and partner sites, including the Royal South Hants Hospital (RSH) and South Central Ambulance Service (SCAS). Applications from current band 5s are also welcomed.
Ideal for pharmacy technicians soon to qualify and register with the GPhC. You must be a team player, possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and have a strong desire to develop professionally.
Your Responsibilities
* Dispensary-based training at SGH and RSH, learning to dispense and label accurately.
* Issuing medications to patients.
* Working with the team at South Central Ambulance Service to maintain appropriate medication levels for ambulances and supervising junior staff.
* Ward-based learning: taking accurate medication histories, discussing patient medications, and offering advice.
* Experience in aseptic units producing IV antibiotics, Total Parenteral Nutrition (TPN), and Cytotoxic IV/Infusions.

Qualifications, Knowledge and Experience
Essential Criteria
* Registered pharmacy technician in the UK by GPhC or working towards registration within the next six months.
* Numerate and literate e.g. GCSE in Maths and English A* to C or equivalent; IELTS score 7 required for overseas candidates.
* Accurate dispensing of medicines in hospital, community, or aseptic pharmacy environments.
* Maintaining continuous professional development requirements or training portfolio.
* Experience dealing with customers and/or patients.
* Able to use a range of information technology programmes.
* Demonstrates ability to organise own and others' workload and prioritise effectively.
* Available for antisocial hours, weekends and bank holidays as per rota.
* Willing to travel to and work at RSH / SGH and other sites if required.
Desirable Criteria
* Additional pharmacy qualifications (e.g., APTUK Foundation Framework Management training, Practice supervisor or TAQA Medicines Management qualification, PIPC or ACPT).
* Hospital pharmacy experience.
* Stock control and ordering experience.
* Providing a ward-based medicines management service.
* Aseptic pharmacy experience.
* Clinical trials or research experience.
* Experience with JAC or similar pharmacy-based computer systems.
* Experience supervising staff or trainees.
