We are proud of our diverse workforce and recognise our people through a number of reward and recognition schemes, as well as through our learning and tailored personal developmentWe are Mitie, the future of high-performing places.Assistant Facilities Manager Technical Services (Industrial / Manufacturing)Location: Belfast (across three secure sites)Reports to: Facilities LeadAbout the RoleWe are seeking a technically qualified facilities professional with a background in mechanical or electrical engineering and hands-on maintenance experience to support the delivery of hard facilities management services across three highly secure industrial / manufacturing sites in Belfast.This role is focused on engineering asset reliability, statutory compliance, maintenance delivery, and the leadership of maintenance technicians and specialist contractors. It is not a soft-services facilities role.The successful candidate will have progressed from the tools into supervision or engineering management and will be comfortable operating in a fast-paced production / manufacturing environment where asset uptime, safety, and compliance are critical.Role PurposeTo ensure the safe, compliant, and reliable operation of all engineering and building services assets across multiple sites, supporting operational uptime through effective maintenance strategy, contractor control, and hands-on leadership of technical services delivery.Key ResponsibilitiesEngineering & Asset ManagementSupport the development and delivery of planned and reactive maintenance strategies for all engineering and building services assetsDrive asset reliability and continuous improvement through root cause analysis and preventative planningMaintain accurate asset records and maintenance historyContribute to lifecycle planning, asset replacement programmes, and shutdown planningEnsure all statutory inspections, testing, and certifications are completed and recordedTechnical Services OversightOversight of hard services including electrical, mechanical, HVAC, water, pressure systems, and associated infrastructureManagement of permit-to-work systems, isolations, and safe systems of workSupervision of specialist contractors carrying out technical worksReview of RAMS and technical documentation prior to worksTeam Leadership & SupervisionDay-to-day supervision of maintenance technicians and engineering contractorsPlanning and prioritisation of maintenance activities in line with operational needsCoaching and mentoring of engineers and apprenticesSupporting a positive safety and engineering culture across sitesContractor & Commercial ManagementManagement of hard FM service partners and specialist engineering contractorsReview of scopes of work, quotations, and variationsMonitoring of contractor performance against KPIs and service levelsSupport budget control relating to maintenance and engineering servicesHealth, Safety & ComplianceEnsure compliance with all relevant engineering and health & safety legislation (e.g. LOLER, PUWER, pressure systems, electrical safety, water hygiene)Participation in audits, inspections, and compliance reviewsPromotion of safe working practices across all technical activitiesEssential Experience & QualificationsTime-served mechanical or electrical engineer or recognised engineering trade backgroundProven hands-on experience working as a maintenance technician/engineer earlier in careerExperience supervising or leading maintenance teams or contractorsExperience within an industrial, manufacturing, or production environmentStrong knowledge of statutory compliance relating to engineering assetsExperience using a CMMS to manage maintenance activitiesPractical understanding of building services and engineering infrastructureStrong organisational and problem-solving skillsDesirableHNC / HND / Degree in Mechanical or Electrical EngineeringIOSH or NEBOSH qualificationExperience working within facilities management or estates functionsExperience working in secure, regulated, or safety-critical environmentsHV / LV authorised person experience (where applicable)Previous experience supporting project delivery across a critical manufacturing environmentCandidate ProfileThis role will suit an individual who has progressed from hands-on engineering into a supervisory or junior management role and is now looking to further develop into facilities and asset management while remaining close to technical services delivery.You will be technically credible, comfortable on plant rooms and production floors, and
