DEBRA was established in 1978 by Phyllis Hilton, whose daughter had Epidermolysis Bullosa (EB,) as the world’s first patient support group for people living with EB.

Today DEBRA UK is a national charity supporting 3,500+ members, which includes people living with EB, relatives, partners, or carers of someone with EB, healthcare professionals and researchers who work with EB.

Our vision is for a world where no one suffers with EB, and we will not stop until this vision becomes a reality.

We are looking for individuals with either a marketing or fundraising background. The key responsibilities and person specification of the role are-

Provide insights on emerging trends, audience behaviour, and sector dynamics to inform proactive marketing strategies and risk mitigation. Offer scrutiny and feedback on the charity’s communications performance, using data and KPIs to inform strategy and continual improvement

Person Specification:

Senior leadership experience in marketing.

Demonstrated success in leading strategic marketing transformations or brand repositioning initiatives.

Digital marketing experience including leveraging TikTok and Instagram to grow supporter base / drive donations

Good understanding of working with and leveraging relationships with influencers to grow supporter base / drive donations

Time commitment

While DEBRA’s Head Office is based in Bracknell, Berkshire, our membership is spread across the UK. To be truly representative of that membership we encourage applicants from anywhere in the UK and committee members can access meetings virtually. This is an unpaid volunteer role, but any reasonable travel expenses will be reimbursed in line with the Charity’s expenses policy.

Meetings of the Fundraising and Marketing committee currently take place four times a year, each lasting between 2.5-3 hours.
