What you will do
As the Lead Project Engineer, you will oversee and guide a Project Engineering team to achieve the goals and objectives of our Capital Programme. You will lead the execution of engineering projects from concept through to final commissioning, ensuring compliance with all design, construction, safety and environmental regulations. Your key responsibilities include:
* Planning, managing, and controlling ongoing engineering processes and activities
* Coordinating with Engineering & Operations Managers and other key stakeholders to support project activities
* Problem‑solving and addressing issues, reporting progress at various organisational levels
* Tracking and reporting key performance indicators for work progress and project performance
* Managing budgets, coaching and motivating the team, and continuously improving project management and engineering processes
What you will need
Excellent communication, negotiation, networking, influencing and presentation skills are essential. You should also have:
* Significant experience in steelworks engineering
* A solid understanding of engineering management and experience managing teams or strategic projects
* Preferably a Master’s degree in Engineering and Chartered Engineer status (desirable but not essential)
* Ability to effectively communicate at all levels and represent the business externally
