Fire Safety Surveyor

Salary: £268 PAYE | £350 Umbrella LTD (Per Day)

Our client, a well-established Local Authority in Greater London, is seeking an experienced and proactive Fire Safety Surveyor to join their Property and Compliance team. This is an excellent opportunity for a fire safety professional to play a key role in ensuring residential housing stock remains compliant with current fire safety legislation while helping to safeguard residents and communities.
Working within a specialist compliance team, you will provide expert fire safety advice, undertake Fire Risk Assessments (FRAs), monitor compliance programmes, and support the delivery of fire safety improvements across a diverse housing portfolio.
Key Responsibilities:
Undertake and produce Fire Risk Assessments (FRAs) across residential housing stock and associated properties.
Identify fire safety risks and recommend appropriate remedial actions.
Develop and manage FRA inspection programmes in line with statutory requirements.
Conduct desktop reviews of Fire Risk Assessments in accordance with policy requirements.
Quality assure external consultants and specialist contractors undertaking fire safety inspections.
Monitor fire safety works and inspect completed projects to ensure compliance and quality standards are achieved.
Develop technical solutions and planned fire safety improvement programmes.
Prepare specifications and scopes of work for fire safety projects and compliance-related works.
Work closely with planned maintenance and capital delivery teams to ensure fire safety compliance is embedded within projects.
Carry out inspections of communal areas to ensure fire safety standards are maintained.
Liaise with enforcement bodies including the London Fire Brigade and support responses to enforcement notices.
Provide technical advice regarding compartmentation, fire stopping and approved fire safety products.
Deliver fire safety training and guidance to contractors, colleagues and housing management teams.
Support residents, leaseholders and vulnerable tenants through fire safety advice and awareness initiatives.
Contribute to the development and maintenance of fire safety strategies, policies, procedures and compliance databases.
Produce technical reports, performance information and management briefings as required.
Manage complaints, enquiries and stakeholder requests within agreed service standards.Essential Qualifications:
HNC/HND or equivalent qualification in Fire Safety Management, Fire Engineering, Building Surveying or a related discipline.
NEBOSH General Certificate.
NEBOSH Fire Safety qualification (or equivalent).
Advanced Fire Safety and Fire Risk Assessment qualification.
Full professional membership of the Institution of Fire Engineers (IFE) or equivalent professional body such as CABE, CIOB or RICS, or be actively working towards membership.
CDM qualification or willingness to undertake training.Essential Experience & Knowledge:
Significant experience within the built environment, construction, housing or property sector.
Experience undertaking Fire Risk Assessments and fire safety inspections.
Experience delivering fire safety advice and training.
Experience of social housing fire safety management.

Relevant health and safety legislation
Knowledge of quality assurance and compliance monitoring processes.
Excellent report writing and communication skills.
Strong stakeholder management abilities.
Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office applications.
Ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines.
