Interim Deputy Headteacher – Behaviour, Attitudes and Attendance – Secondary School
This dynamic secondary school in Birmingham is seeking an experienced Interim Deputy Headteacher to take strategic responsibility for behaviour, attitudes, and attendance. This is a high-impact leadership role within a school led by an outstanding Headteacher, supported by a strong and established middle leadership team, and benefiting from excellent facilities and a positive learning environment.
This role requires a Deputy Headteacher with proven experience leading on behaviour and attendance at whole-school level. You will play a key role in maintaining high standards, supporting staff, and ensuring students are fully engaged, supported, and meeting expectations around conduct and attendance. This role requires a Deputy Headteacher who is available to start ASAP pending compliance and references.
Job Role:
Leading whole-school behaviour, attitudes, and attendance strategies
Driving sustained improvements in attendance and punctuality
Ensuring consistent implementation of behaviour policies across the school
Supporting and line managing pastoral leaders and middle leaders
Using data to identify trends, target interventions, and measure impact
Working closely with the Headteacher and SLT on whole-school priorities
Liaising with parents, external agencies, and local authorities where required
Contributing to safeguarding, inclusion, and student wellbeing strategiesThe Ideal Candidate Will Have:
Previous experience as a Deputy Headteacher in a secondary school
A strong track record of successfully improving behaviour and attendance
Excellent leadership, communication, and organisational skills
The ability to influence, challenge, and support staff effectively
Experience working closely with pastoral and inclusion teams
