Environmental Protection Officer – Contract (3-6 months+) | £40 per hour.
Are you looking for something a little different than routine statutory nuisance casework?
I’m working with a local authority in the East Midlands area who is seeking an Environmental Protection Officer to join their team for a minimum 3-6 month (initial) contract. This role isn’t just about complaint handling, you’ll gain experience across complex investigations, environmental permitting, and wider regulatory projects that are vital in protecting public health and the local environment.
Alongside day-to-day statutory nuisance investigations, you’ll be part of a team ensuring residents and businesses comply with environmental legislation and best practice.
Responsibilities
* Investigating statutory nuisance complaints (noise, odour, smoke, etc.)
* Carrying out environmental monitoring and assessments
* Supporting enforcement action, including the preparation of legal notices and evidence for court
* Liaising with residents, businesses, and partner agencies to resolve environmental issues
* Assisting with environmental permitting and wider project work where required
Requirements
* (Desirablebut not essential) Degree or Diploma in Environmental Health.
* Proven experience in environmental protection / statutory nuisance enforcement within local authority settings.
* Up-to-date technical knowledge and enforcement skills.
* Strong communication and report-writing ability.
Contract & Pay
£40+ per hour.
Initial 3-month contract with likely extension until the end of the financialyear.
