The Healthcare Assistant will contribute to the delivery of patient care by assisting the team in providing a high standard of nursing care. You will support radiologists in diagnostic scans and minimally invasive interventional procedures such as non-organ biopsies, breast biopsies, and aspiration of non-infectious collections (e.g., needle tap). Additionally, you will be involved in ordering consumables and maintaining environmental cleanliness.
Responsibilities include:
1. Welcoming and receiving patients, visitors, and colleagues to the unit.
2. Ensuring the needs and concerns of patients and their friends/relatives are given thorough attention, providing friendly and efficient service.
3. Understanding cultural needs and assisting patients in orienting to the ward.
4. Reporting any changes in a patient's condition to a qualified nurse that may require nursing intervention.
5. Referring queries from patients, relatives, and colleagues to the nursing staff.
6. Accompanying patients (including their friends and relatives) between departments.
7. Assisting patients with eating, drinking, hygiene, and elimination procedures.
8. Transporting clinical specimens and prescription charts to relevant departments.
9. Entering requests on the computer as directed.
10. Assisting with observation and collection of specimens.
11. Answering the telephone, passing on non-clinical messages, and maintaining filing systems.
12. Supporting the receptionist and nursing staff with clerical duties as needed.
Qualifications and Experience:
* NVQ Level 2 - Direct Patient Care or equivalent (Essential)
* NVQ Level 3 - Direct Patient Care (Desirable)
* Experience working on a ward or outpatient setting.
* Competent in venepuncture and phlebotomy skills.
* First Aid Course (Desirable)
* Proficient in written and oral English.
Salary:
£29,029 - £31,529 per annum, depending on experience and qualifications.
