Assistant Head Teacher / Inclusion

Salary range: L17‑L21 (currently £76,772‑£84,699)
We serve a highly diverse student community, with over 50 % of pupils coming from minority backgrounds. The post is created following the internal promotion of the current holder.
Key Responsibilities
* Work with the Senior Deputy Headteacher responsible for Inclusion to support all students, ensuring progress, attendance, behaviour and attitudes meet the school’s high standards.
* Develop and embed consistent, excellent behaviour‑management routines both inside and outside the classroom.
* Lead initiatives to improve attendance, particularly for those below 90 %.
* Foster resilience, confidence and a reward system that motivates students to reach their highest potential.
* Line‑manage a Head of Year to ensure pupils are challenged and supported.
* Support and challenge colleagues, ensuring staff meet the highest standards of inclusion and practice.
* Collaborate with parents, external agencies and safeguarding teams to promote attendance, behaviour and safeguarding.
* Analyse data, monitor progress, and use insights to drive continual improvement.
* Deliver and oversee the inclusion sections of the school’s CPD programme; attend CPD as required.
* Attend Senior Leadership Team and Governing Board meetings, and contribute to strategic school improvement plans.
* Support the Catholic ethos, leading student prayer or arranging suitable alternatives.
* Ensure compliance with safeguarding, health and safety, and exam administration procedures.
Qualifications and Experience
* Senior leadership experience in secondary education.
* Teaching experience in an 11‑18 school.
* Proven understanding of current curriculum and learning developments.
* Record of sustained progress in raising educational standards.
* Strong communication, negotiation and influencing skills.
* Commitment to the Catholic ethos and comprehensive education.
* Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and an honours degree (or higher‑level degree).
* Evidence of continuing professional development.

* Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service check required; re‑check on request.
* Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and vulnerable adults.
